So you’re eloping and you’re so excited and you can’t even contain it and all the sudden…
… Now what?
I getcha, there’s so much information on eloping out there it can be hard to know even where to begin. That’s where I can help! Since you decided to elope, your planning is going to be super easy once you have a solid outline. So let’s knock it out! Here’s what you need to consider:
1. Where you’ll be eloping
There are SO many places to choose from, so let’s make it easy on you… Is there anywhere that hold sentimental value to you? Whether that be a city, state, or a specific location within those, this is the best place to start. If the answer is “no” (which is actually super common), the next place to go to is whether there is a place that you and your fiance have dreamed of going to – maybe the Grand Canyon or the coast of Maine? Talk about this and see what you can come up with. Together you’ll be able to brainstorm some pretty neat idea!
Still strugglin’? Hit ya homegirl up. I’ve got recommendations.
2. When you’ll be eloping
You might have a sentimental date (hint: many people choose to elope on an anniversary of some kind) or you might just not even care and want to go and get married! Whatever feels right for you, deep inside, go with that.
3. Officiant & the legal stuff
You can do two things – a) sign the papers at the courthouse when you get them to get it out of the way and then elope without an officiant at a later date, b) bring your documentation with you and have the officiant make it legal during your elopement day (provided you have two additional people there who can be witnesses like a photography team), c) sign the papers at the courthouse when you get them to get it out of the way and then elope WITH an officiant at a later date. The nice option with this is that they don’t need to be authorized in any way, they can just do it!
4. Your attire
Whether it be dresses or suits, most people choose to dress up in some sort of way. This can be however you want it, you can go as traditional or nontraditional as you like.
I like to have convos with my couples about this to make sure we plan the day accordingly so they’re not too cold, uncomfortable, etc. based on the location. You can absolutely wear whatever you want, but we can plan your day so you can do that while staying comfortable.
5. Florals
It’s NOT uncommon to not have florals at all. You might choose to do that or choose to include some more traditional elements like including a bouquet, flower crown, or boutonniere.
If you need help finding a florist and figuring this step out, I can help.
6. Your photographer and/ or videographer
Okay, okay – I may be biased but I’m like 99% positive that this is super key. Depending on my couple’s needs, I create a wedding day that is 100% them while also photographing it. Want a videographer, too? Cool. I can get one for you. Pretty neat, huh?
Send me a message. Let’s make your day perfectly you.
